So I've been at the Great Dorset Steam Fair over the past couple of days, sorry for not posting updates but sadly no internet... so here I am today to relive my days with you!
It has been a wild time, from whizzing around in the funfair to bumping up and down on the tractor rides to being mesmerised by all the beautifully made Steam Engines, let me just tell you they are incredible! Such detailed and intricate craftsmanship has went into these beautiful machines.
Ending with subtley stunning evenings, when all the lights on the steam engines and around the arenas are turned on, they dance like little fireflies everywhere around you, such a great experience and my idea of a perfect summer eveing!
But I'm telling you guys, you definately have to go and experience this at some point in your future, if not next year!
There is so much to do and don't worry about the kids because they will have a blast, just make sure you take lots of cash, eventhough there are cash machines on site, buried around the many stalls and tents.
I mean there is a tent for everything, from Motorcycles and Vintage cars to Craft tents and Food tent (which sells incredibly sumptuous food, you will be wanting to try everything!).
Were not talking scabby food trucks, but good wholesome food such as smoked sausages with pulled pork on top, venison and lamb burgers, vegan and beef curries, Paella, roast puds with all the toppings, fish and chips, baked potatoes, beautifully crafted cakes, cheeses and pies, waffles, crepes and ice-cream and you can even try Sheep ice-cream! Now isn't that an experience, but is bloody lovely and so creamy!
I'm telling you, the Hairy Bikers would even have a field day here!
Unfortunately this year was the last year of the War Memorial, where you could go and experience the trenches and what it would have been like in their hosiptals e.t.c. Absolute fascinating display and so educational.
But don't worry, even if you didn't get to see this this year then there will be other experiences lined up to be come to the Great Dorset Steam Fair in the future, so you won't be missing out a thing! There is always something going on, including the many shows programmed throughout the day, from Rallys to Monster trucks and stunt shows, as well as many animal talks and displays, indluding the heavy horses and seeing the biggest Eagle in the world take flight around the arena.
But don't let me ramble on, go and see for yourself, make sure you book up for next year or sometime in the future as i'm telling you know, you won't regret it!
